2.2 Project and Environment Setup
Setting up a project in Matillion connects your ETL workspace to your chosen data warehouse.
Project Setup
🡆Create a Project:
🡆Go to Your Projects → Add New Project
🡆Give it a name (e.g., Sales Data Pipeline)
🡆Choose Configuration:
🡆Matillion Managed (Full SaaS): Matillion hosts and manages everything. Best for simplicity.
🡆Advanced (Hybrid SaaS): You host the agent in your own cloud environment for tighter control (ideal for enterprise users).
🡆Select Data Platform:
🡆Choose your data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc.)
Environment Setup
🡆Create an Environment: Define how your project connects to your data platform.
🡆Name It: e.g., “Development,” “Testing,” or “Production”
🡆Configure Credentials: Enter database connection details (e.g., URL, username, password, workspace ID)
🡆Set Access Levels: Define default user permissions
🡆Add Cloud Credentials: Optional, if using cloud storage like AWS S3 or Azure Blob
🡆Set Warehouse Defaults: Configure the default database, schema, or warehouse
🡆Once set up, you’re ready to design and run your first data pipeline.
